2010 Inaugural Conference on Scaling Social Impact
June 17-18, 2010 New York City

“Learn Together, Fund Together, and Build Together!”

On June 17-18, the Social Impact Exchange presented its 2010 Inaugural Conference on Scaling, where more than 450 funders, investors, high net-worth individuals, philanthropy advisors, academics and nonprofit leaders convened in New York City. The Conference was a first-of-it's-kind event focused entirely on innovative methods to support scaling and replication of high-impact nonprofit programs. Attendees witnessed the selection of the award winners of the Business Plan Competition, participated in a first-ever Scaling Social Impact Investment Fair and attended numerous sessions on planning, evaluating, and financing the scaling of high impact, nonprofit organizations. The event was a true collaborative effort by many organizations who helped in planning, co-inviting, sponsoring and speaking at the Conference.

Conference sessions were designed to facilitate participation by attendees. They included:

Highlights of the Conference also included keynote addresses from Robert Steel, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development for The City of New York, Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson FoundationJudith Rodin, president of The Rockefeller FoundationNancy Roob, president and CEO of The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, and David Gergen, senior political analyst at CNN and Professor of Public Service at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

The Conference on Scaling was presented by Growth Philanthropy Network, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Duke University and in collaboration with Association of Small Foundations, Grantmakers in Health, Good Capital, Social Capital Markets, Philanthropy New York, Independent Sector, Manhattan Institute, SeaChange, PRI Makers, and Wealth and Giving Forum.
